more Hagneys

So, great-grandfather James McCallion marries Mary Hagney in 1874. Her name gets munged into Hegarty on later birth records for her children. On their marriage cert it lists her father as Daniel Hagney.

ancestry.com shows we have relations (via dna) with families like the Robbins (from NJ) and Sackvilles (from PA). While I haven't heard back yet from the few I've written to, the common link in the trees seems to be Sarah Hagney:

... no McCallions or McBrides or Meehans in the mix of common family trees (and this match is all on the maternal side).

This is more info on Sarah Hagney Sackville, obit 1939:

So Sarah was from Ireland. Her parents were Daniel Hagney and Eunace Sweeney, both from Ireland.

And we are related. I think this is likely great-grandmother Mary Hagney's sister.

pics from Derek

Derek McNeil confirms that this pic is of James McBride and Ann Meehan:

"Yes, I recognise the photo from my grandparents' (Alec and Maude's) house (from years ago when I was too young to have any interest!) I'm pretty sure it is still there though, and I will check next time I'm in Dooish."

Derek also sent along these pics:

" George and Katherine’s house in Dooish. This is where my grandfather Alec and his siblings -Annie, Molly, Bridie and Celine - were raised (to the best of my knowledge)."

"I’ve also attached a photo of my grandfather Alec and Maude’s house that was built c. 1963/4 … a few hundred yards away “up the lane”. You can see the family outside. "

Katherine McBride McNeil, sister of Charles McBride and Anne McBride McCallion (and others), mother of the McNeil clan mentioned above:

Thanks Derek!
